Akbank Jazz Festival: Christian Scott at Akbank International Jazz Festival at Zorlu Performing Arts Center
The Lousiana-born, trumpeter, composer, producer, instrument designer and music executive, Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah is one of the iconoclasts of jazz. He is also the nephew of another innovative jazz man, the saxophonist Donald Harrison, Jr. He is a man who left a mark with his “whisper technique” on trumpet and his convention “forecats cell”, an ego provocation technique designed for escalating group improvisation on stage. He also revolutionized brass instrument design with his signature line of horns, trumpets and flugelhorns, which he developed through his partnership with Adam’s Instruments. Having written film scores for his twin brother Kiel Adrian, who is a successful director, he launched his 2015 album, Strech Music, via a special application with tools that enables exercise-oriented interactive listening. Until today, he has shared the same stage with stars like McCoy Tyner, Prince, Marcus Miller, Eddie Palmieri, Mos Def (Yasin Bey), Thom Yorke and Solange Knowles, while he received two Edison Awards and once was nominated for the Grammy Award.
