Supported by her teachers, Barry Harris and Frank Foster in her early days in New York, she was lucky to have her very first stints with the likes of Kenny Barron, Pharoah Sanders and Lionel Hampton. Later on, names like Monty Alexander, Cecil Bridgewater, Kenny Burrell, Frank Foster, Billy Higgins, Etta Jones and Toots Thielemans were present in her recordings and bandstands.
